| This past Summer, as a part of a trip down the
East Coast, we spent a few days exploring the Outer Banks. We found
a very nice campground in Rodanthe which is centrally-located on the Outer
Banks. Our site was steps from the ocean. What to see: 1. The Wright Brothers Museum and site of their first flights. 2. Hatteras National Seashore 3. The famous lighthouse at Cape Hatteras. The two-hour ferry ride from the south end to the mainline was enjoyable, too. |

| In fulfilling a promise to my older sister
living in Phoenix, (that I would celebrate my 70th birthday with her), my
wife & I set out on May 12th with our 18 ft Travel Trailer in tow. We
agreed to travel 250 to 300 miles per day. All totalled, we went 6,000 miles through the states of Alabama,Louisiana,Texas,New Mexico,Arizona,Utah,Okalhoma,Arkansas, and Mississippi, visiting many of our National Parks along the way. Our favorite campground was in Madisonville, La called "Fairview River State Park". (and they accept the Golden Age pass). Well maintained riverside park located on the north shore of Lake Ponchatrain! After 5 days in Phoenix, we travelled north to Cottonwood Arizona, camping 5 days in "Dead Horse Ranch State Park". Centrally located for visiting Sedona, Jerome, and Prescott. Next, The Grand Canyon, camping one night on route at "Kaibob Lake State Park" in Williams AZ (nice Campground). The next day we camped in Grand Canyon at "Trailer Village" (campground not recommend). We next proceeded north around the canyon on our way to Zion National Park. On route we camped one night at "Jacob Lake State Park" (Very nice). Zion was our favorite National Park staying 5 nights in "Watchman Campground". Unbelievable sceenery and hiking abound. On to Bryce Canyon camping at Ruby's Inn campground (not impressed). After that we traveled through The Escalante Mountains to Capitol Reef National Park, camping at "Fruita National Campground", our 2nd favorite campground! As soon as we turned back in an easterly direction, our Chevy Trailblazer acted like a horse headed back to the barn! A trip worth taking for sure. The Coleman |
