The Villages RV Club Hosts their Annual Picnic,
2012
On Sunday, April 15th, the
Villages RV Club hosted their annual picnic at the facilities of Alliance Coach
located at 4505 Monaco Way in Wildwood. The picnic was attended by 260 members
of the RV Club and Alliance Coach had many of their staff members available for
technical and general questions.
Seminars were conducted by Alliance
Coach’s technicians on three RV related subjects of interest to all who own an
RV. The seminars included leak detection and prevention, nitrogen for tire
inflation and tire pressures and winterization for Central Florida. In addition,
the club members had an opportunity throughout the afternoon to tour the many
new Monaco Recreation Vehicles on Alliance’s site as well as the shop
facilities where Alliance is capable of repairing any RV problem with the
exception of engines and transmissions. Our members
gained a comfortable feeling about them as an excellent "home town"
repair/sales facility
To spice up the afternoon’s
festivities, eight members of the Villages” Clown Alley were on hand to
entertain the club members with antics, face painting and balloon art. Through
the 50/50 program that the RV club conducted during the afternoon, the members
of Clown Alley were presented with a contribution of $433.00 for their
charitable activities with such organizations as “Hugs and Wishes” and less
fortunate children.
The highlight of the afternoon was a
wedding of two of the club’s members. Bernie Holzapfel and Iris Bartowski
entered the activities mid way during the afternoon. Iris carried a Spring
Bouquet and Bernie’s smile lit up the room. Iris was radiant in her white
gown. The wedding ceremony was performed by Alliance’s own Richard Crowley.
The couple had said before that when they were to be married, all of the RV club
members would be invited-little did we know that the Annual Picnic would be
their wedding site. Congratulations to Iris and Bernie.
During the course of the afternoon,
many participated in a scavenger hunt “Find Brett” named for Brett Howard,
Alliance’s Vice President. Five winners, Ron Collins, Isabelle Ford, Kenny
Griffin, Marci Fairbanks and one brand new member received a basket
filled with RV related goods plus a $100 Gift Certificate for parts or service
compliments of Alliance Coach.
Several members of the RV club who are
crafters displayed their wares for others to purchase. It provided an
opportunity for our members to see the creative assets in the club plus take
advantage of opportunities to learn a craft from them.
The afternoon continued with karaoke by
members Dick and Ruth Steeves and karaoke vocals along the way. The culmination
of the picnic was a feast catered by the Oakwood Smokehouse accompanied by
plenty of cupcakes as a present to all from our newlyweds.
The Villages RV Club, one of the
opportunities offered by Florida’s Friendliest Hometown, offers membership to
