THE VILLAGES RV CLUB MEETING DATE: November 12, 2010 President Mark Hulbert called the meeting to order at 10:00
A.M. with a moment of silence and prayer for those in harm’s way protecting
our freedoms, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Since yesterday was Veterans Day, all veterans were asked to
stand up and be recognized, receiving applause for their support of our country. Secretary’s
Report: Abbreviated minutes
for the October 8th meeting were read and approved.
Special thanks to Jo Spinks for covering secretary responsibilities in
the absence of Barb Hatch. Fund Raiser: President Hulbert announced a crafter “silent auction” fund raiser to be held at the December meeting. If you are a crafter or artist and wish to donate items for this auction, contact Becky Hulbert or Jo Spinks to arrange space for your particular item. Mark stated that the first order of business at the December meeting will be to review those items, place your name and bid on the item. Winners will be announced at the end of the meeting. The proceeds of this auction will be donated to the Moffitt Cancer Annex. Treasurer’s
Report: The financial
report was presented by Walter McKechnie and approved as follows: Opening Balance $8,664.41 Income 219.00 (merchandise, membership, & 50/50) Expenditures 3,450.06 (primarily the picnic & merchandise) Ending Balance
$5,433.35 Wagon Master:
Mark then introduced Wagon Master, Fred Bryant, who has just returned
from the trip to New Mexico. Fred
had wagon master dangles to present to Dick & Ruth Steeves; however, they
were not present. Fred stated that as long as he’s been the wagon master
for the last two years, sign-ups have always been a problem.
People sign up for trips, arrangements are made and packages are prepared
by the wagon master. Then the wagon master finds out that they did not plan on
going on the trip. Now this is the
last week before the trip and it’s too late to get anyone from the waiting
list as they’ve already made other arrangements.
When you sign up and don’t intend to go, it causes someone else who
really wanted to go unable to do so. To remedy this situation, the club is instituting a mandatory $25 non-refundable sign-up fee per rig. These funds will be used at the discretion of the wagon master, either for first night deposit, pot luck, or to supplement other planned activities. If you’re able to get someone else to take your place, it will be your responsibility to obtain reimbursement of the $25 from that person. This is not intended to penalize anyone for not going on a trip or take your money, but to prevent casual sign-ups from taking place. Trips:
Wagon masters were called upon to discuss upcoming trips as follows: Daytona 500 -
Fred indicated he had information on infield camping for the Daytona 500.
This is very popular, and you almost have to make reservations a year in
advance. Anyone interested should
contact Fred. New Orleans French
Quarters Festival – This trip is scheduled for April 6 through 11.
This trip is filled with a short waiting list.
Tom & Diane Herlache are wagon masters and have many events scheduled
for this exciting trip. Hillsboro State Park
– scheduled for Nov. 16-18. Wagon
masters are Phil & Mary Stevens. This
trip is ready to go. Phil asked
several participants to come forward to solicit interest in a couple of planned
excursions. Christmas Party
– Christie King stated the Christmas Party is all sold out at this time. Hudson Theatre Show
Palace Dinner Theatre – Jo Spinks reported that Becky & Mark Hulbert
are hosting this trip scheduled for Dec. 15 & 16. There currently are three slots open for this event. Theatre, Art and
Spirituality – This event in Eustis is scheduled for Feb. 5th
through 8th, hosted by Beck & Mark Hulbert.
The trip is full with a waiting list. Naples Resort
– This rally from Jan. 26th to 28th just occurred and is
not on the list yet. This is a
Class A motor home only resort. The
trip filled today with a waiting list. The
cost is $60 per night. If
interested, contact Jo or Al Spinks and they will place you on the waiting list. Smokey Mountain
Jamboree/Pigeon Forge - Al & Eve Sandy are co-wagon masters for this
trip April 3rd through 9th. Many activities, including golf are planned.
More details will provided at a later date. Charleston, SC
Outing – John Pope is hosting this rally from April 10 through 14.
More information and sign-ups will take place at the next meeting. Secondary Interest
Trips – Mike Maino spoke to the club about the Secondary Interest Survey
conducted at the last two meetings. The
purpose of the survey is to identify specific interests among members that would
result in more rallies throughout the course of the year.
Mike asked members to complete the survey form today before they leave if
they haven’t already done so. The
results will be reviewed with the Wagon Master committee to determine how we
will pro-actively move this forward. Dunedin - This
trip is scheduled for May 2nd to May 6th.
Christie King will have more information on this trip at a later date. Crystal River Golf
- Monica Rubenstein, a relatively new member, asked to speak regarding a golf
trip to Crystal River. She books
trips for other different clubs and solicited interest in such a trip from the
RV club. There was a definite
interest so Monica will obtain additional information and report accordingly. New Year’s Eve
– Jim Basener solicited interest in a New Year’s rally at Lazy Days near
Tampa. It was reported by other
members that the event at Lazy Days was completely filled. There was also no interest shown in a New Year’s Eve rally
anywhere else. Mark commended and thanked Fred & the wagon masters on
doing an outstanding job on booking trips.
At the last meeting we only had two trips (excluding the Christmas party
and cruises) on the schedule and today we have at least 8 trips scheduled.
Mark reiterated that this is a great time to schedule trips for spring
and early summer. Mark also stated that there are two or three spots open for
the Hudson Show Palace Dinner Theatre. This
will be closed off at the end of this meeting.
If there’s any interest in this trip, sign up before you leave today. Albuquerque -
Before Mark continued with the meeting, a member asked for feedback on the
Albuquerque trip. Vern Hatch then
gave a brief recap of the trip and various experiences.
Overall it was a great trip and fun was had by all.
Irwin King complimented the wagon masters, who power washed the love bugs
off each coach upon arriving at our first campground in Ozark, AL. Officer
Nominations & Voting: President
Hulbert expressed thanks to Al Sandy and his committee members for the work they
did on establishing a slate of officers for 2011.
He then called upon each nominee to stand up and be recognized.
The candidates were: Christie
King for president, Howard Ford for vice-president, Barb Hatch for secretary,
Carol McKechnie for treasurer, Dick Scheffler for wagon master, & Carl
Fairbanks for membership. Mark then
solicited any additional nominees from the floor.
Since none were noted, nominations were closed and a vote and approval
took place for all nominees at one time. Sunshine Report:
Joyce Armstrong was pleased to report that we have a healthy group.
Cards were sent to Irwin King, Skip Dorsey, & Shirley Cranston. Mark
reminded everyone to notify Joyce if they know of anyone who has been
hospitalized or has other problems and needs to have a card sent on behalf of
the club. Picnic Report:
The picnic was held on October 23rd at Mulberry.
Mark thanked vice-president Len Holdsworth and Carol McKechnie for their
hard work in making this such a huge success. Lunch:
Mark asked if there was an interest in attending lunch at Glenview
Country Club after the meeting. There
was a definite interest. Special
Announcement: Judy Bertsch
reported that today is her husband Chuck’s birthday, as well as Al Spinks.
She then led the club in singing Happy Birthday to both. 2011 PGA
Tournament: This tournament
will take place Aug. 8th through the 14th.
Barbara Bonney has volunteered to be the Wagon Master for this trip.
However, she would like an experienced co-wagon master to assist her.
When Mark asked for volunteers, no one came forward to volunteer or
attend this function. At a previous meeting there was an interest in attending
this tournament. It was mentioned
that many club members were currently attending the golf tournament in Orlando
today. Some also felt it was too
far off to make such a commitment. New Members:
Twelve new members introduced themselves and received an RV Club koozie. 50/50 Drawing:
Al Rhoton reported that a total of $240 was received today.
There were three $40 drawings. Conclusion:
President Mark reminded members to complete the survey form before they
leave. Two questions were raised from the floor:
If a trip is booked, can a member make reservations on their own at the
campground and participate in club activities?
President Hulbert stated that this has been discouraged.
It has happened in the past, but creates an additional burden on the
Wagon Masters as they would try to include others in scheduled events. Availability of planned activities is generally dictated by
that particular activity as to the number of people that can be accommodated. Mark
also stated that more trips should become available as the secondary interest
rallies begin to get scheduled. Our
primary interest is RVing and secondary is fishing, golfing, biking, etc.
He also reminded everyone to be sure to check the web site to see
what’s listed and prepare to arrive at our meetings early to take advantage of
the trips scheduled. The second question dealt with access to archives of past
trips. Mark indicated that we do
have archives, but not on the internet. Trip information has been turned over to Wagon Master,
Fred Bryant. Fred stated that he
has information on past trips, campgrounds, rates, activities, etc.
The question was further directed to where the trips went and where they
stopped. Mark said the packets put
together by the Wagon Masters include information such as recommended stops,
campgrounds, restaurants, tourist information in the area, etc. Motion to adjourn
at: 10:55 A.M. Respectfully submitted, Barb Hatch

Breakfast Meeting:
President, Mark Hulbert requested a
chairperson to volunteer to chair a committee for a breakfast meeting next
month. No volunteers were noted. September Survey of
Secondary Interests was done by Mike Maino: Mike stated the Wagon Master Committee is interested in finding out
what specialty or secondary interests the members might have. This
is to help the Wagon Master Committee decide what suggestions would be
worthwhile in helping set up future rallies.
The number one suggestion was: beach
area resorts. Wine country tours
was the number two suggestion. Golf
outings as a player and a spectator were also high on the suggestion list as was
casino gambling, NASCAR Racing, motorcycle and bicycle touring.
Spectator at the PGA 2011
Golf Tournament was recommended by
Mark Hulbert. This will be August 8th
through the 14th at the Atlanta Athletic Club.
The location of the tournament is about 20 miles from the Stone Mountain
Park Campground. A Wagon Master was
requested.. Volunteer Barbara Bonney was warmly acknowledged to be Wagon Master
of this event. New Members: Four
new couples were introduced and welcomed into the RV Club.
Each member was presented with a RV koozie. 50/50 Drawing: Two
$40.00 prizes were awarded. Night-time Golf: Al
Rhoton asked if there was any future
interest. A definite interest was
noted.. Historian: Eve Sandy requested
that she needs pictures and a volunteer to take over as Historian.
A person who possibly has digital knowledge would
be helpful. Other information: Mark
Hulbert stated that two folding bikes
that need tires have been donated to the RV Club. A silent auction at the Picnic might be possible. Motion to adjourn: Without
any open discussion or questions, the meeting adjourned at 11:10 a.m. Respectfully submitted
THE VILLAGES RV CLUB MEETING DATE: SEPTEMBER 10, 2010 President Mark Hulbert called the meeting to order at 10:00
A.M. with a moment of silence and prayer for those in harm’s way protecting
our freedoms, especially the victims & families of 9/11 followed by the
Pledge of Allegiance. Abbreviated minutes for the June 11th meeting
were read and approved. Teasurer’s
Report: The financial
report was presented by Walt McKechnie and approved as follows: Beginning Balance $4,118.27 Income 965.00 Expenditures 586.61 Ending Balance
$4,496.66 Guest Speakers:
Dell & Charlotte Schneider from Sunset Isle RV & Yacht Club in
Carabelle, FL spoke on their facility and advertised the best fishing in the
area. Small boats are available for
use. They will give the RV Club a
discount rate of $25 per night. When making reservations, mention oysters as they can prepare
them any way you want them. The
area also has a white sugar sand beach. There
are no time constraints and you’re free to come and go as you please.
The area is also known for some historic places, such as Apalachicola
& St. George Island where many movie stars live. Their lots are for sale, which include a boat dock.
For those who have friends who don’t have an RV, they have a large home
on site with six bedrooms, which they’ve turned into a retreat.
It has steam showers, Jacuzzi, lap pool, billiard room, 50’ fishing
pier, and special services such as manicure, pedicure, and a hair salon.
Go onto rvreviews.com to check out reviews of those who have visited
their facility. Additional Guest
Speaker: John Sanchez from
Towing World in Wildwood also addressed the club. The primary mission is to set up vehicles for towing.
Their specialties are: Tow
bars, Base plates, Remco Lube Pumps, Driveshaft Disconnects, Brake Systems,
& 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Hitches.
They are the only MASTER Service center for HWH Leveling systems &
slide-outs in the state of Florida. They
also install Blue Ox towing hitches and service appliances as well.
Their labor rate is $86 per hour. Secondary
Interest Group Presentation: Mike
Maino introduced a new concept to the club - that of a “Secondary Interest
Group”. The intent is to bring
about more trips for the club as the trips that appear on our schedule fill up
quickly, leaving many members unable to participate in rallies.
This new dimension would open up a whole host of new and exciting things
to do and places to go by organizing trips by special interests such as fishing,
NASCAR, motorcycles, golf, country music, etc.
In order to solicit interest, Mike prepared a survey form to be completed
and turned in at the end of the meeting. The
interests will then be tallied, presented to the wagon master committee, and
hopefully be able to present the results at the next meeting. Along that line, Mark mentioned that the 2011 PGA is going
to be held at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, GA.
The site of the tournament is approximately 20 miles from the Stone
Mountain Park Campground. This would be an example of a Secondary Interest Group trip.
We would be looking for a wagon master for this trip.
Preliminary contact has been made with Stone Mountain Park, who indicated
they’d have space available for us. Ground
passes are $25 for Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday, which are usually the
practice rounds for the pros. Thursday
and Friday they’re $85 and $95 on Saturday and Sunday.
Mark reiterated this would be a great way to integrate a Secondary
Interest along with an RV rally. Wagon Master’s
Report: Dick Scheffler
filled in for Fred Bryant, who is in West Virginia attending a class reunion.
Dick began by acknowledging the number who would be interested in the PGA
trip. He further inquired about an
interest in Pigeon Forge, which is tentatively scheduled for April and Calloway
Gardens in Warren Springs, GA. Dick
was pleased to see the interest in these groups, however, he stated interest was
one thing, but how many would step forward to be a wagon master for these trips
was another story. He also queried
those interested in holding a rally; the majority of those interested were
members who have been long time wagon masters.
Dick stressed that we need more new people to become involved.
He then offered to conduct a seminar or even a one-on-one assistance on
being a wagon master. Wagon Masters then came forward to present the status for
upcoming trips as follows: Lion
Country, Everglades City (which had to be canceled due to lack of interest),
Mediterranean Cruise, Albuquerque Balloon Festival, & Southern Caribbean
Cruise. Christmas Party:
Christie King, chair person, stated our Christmas Party is almost sold
out with four seats left at one table and two single seats at another.
The meal will be the same as last year and it will be held at the
Savannah Center. Karen Weber, the
co-chair person, is in charge of the music.
A performer by the name of Ben Daniele, who appeared at Lazy Days, will
provide the music and entertainment. Picnic:
Carol McKechnie reported that the picnic has been sold out with 23 on the
waiting list. Sunshine:
Carol McKechnie sent 3 get well cards since our last meeting to Barb
Fluger, Pat Bradley, & Jim Osborne. Carol
also announced that next month our new “Sunshine Person” will be Joyce
Armstrong. Be sure to call Joyce if
you know of someone who needs to receive a card.
She can be reached at 750-0219. TVRVC.org:
Dick encouraged members to use the web site, which Don Crosby established
and maintains for our convenience. It
contains a lot of useful information. He
pointed out two particular areas where members can enter information to enter
event details and/or suggest a trip.
Mark Hulbert interjected the fact that packages from previous trips have
been created and are available to anyone wishing to lead a rally to those
places. Nominating
Committee Report: Al Sandy
identified the nominating committee consisting of Al Rhoton, Carol Kugelman who
was not present at today’s meeting, and Jo Spinks. We have a full slate this year where we need to identify
candidates for president, vice-president, treasurer, wagon master, &
membership. Al indicated that
nominations are still open as the current candidates agreed to their respective
positions if no one else has been identified.
Therefore, Al encouraged anyone willing to sign up for any of these
positions to feel free to step forward and volunteer. With regard to being a wagon master, Al indicated that many
of the campgrounds host rallies from time to time and are more than willing to
give suggestions and help you set up activities that you might want to consider
for a rally. Mark stated that
according to the by-laws the slate of officers are to be presented at the
October meeting with the vote occurring at the November meeting. New
Members/Guests: 5 new
members were introduced and received free koozies.
One of the new members mentioned the desire to replace his vehicle so he
could tow his trailer. Mark
reminded members that items for sale can be listed on the web site. 50/50 Drawing:
Three monetary prizes were awarded; 2 for $50 and 1 for $35. Next Meeting:
Our next meeting will be on October 8. Motion to adjourn at: With no open discussion or questions, the meeting adjourned at 11:10 A.M. Respectfully submitted, Barb Hatch 9/10/2010
THE VILLAGES RV CLUB MEETING DATE: June 11, 2010 In the absence of President, Mark Hulbert, Vice-president Len Holdsworth presided at the meeting, which was called to order at 10:05 A.M. with a moment of silence and prayer for those in harm’s way protecting our freedoms and the Pledge of Allegiance. Abbreviated minutes from the May 14th meeting
were read and approved. Teasurer’s
Report: The financial
report was presented by Walt McKechnie and approved as follows: Beginning Balance $3,781.22 Income 571.00 Expenditures 233.95 Ending Balance
$4,118.27 Wagon Master’s
Report: Fred spoke
briefly about the trip to West VA. He
also reminded members that he still has two scooters available for loan to
anyone who may have difficulty walking or getting around.
Fred reiterated the intent of the stipend available to Wagon
Masters being for expenses associated with putting together a rally, such as
printing, packages, etc. and not for food or alcohol.
Wagon Masters came forward to present details about their upcoming trips
to: Everglades City, Albuquerque,
Lion Country, & Mediterranean Cruises. Picnic: Len stated the date of the picnic has been changed from September to Saturday, October 23rd at Mulberry Recreation Center and is for members only. If all of the tickets are not sold as we approach the date of the picnic, we would open it up to others. The picnic will be catered by Oak Wood Smokehouse & Grille. The menu will consist of barbeque pork and chicken, along with two sides, & tea. There are a limited number of tickets available for $8 per person. The actual cost is much greater than that, however, the club will pick up the remainder of the tab with funds in the treasury, which is funded primarily by our 50/50 and membership dues of $5 per couple per year. You will need to bring your own beverage and chairs. Ice will be available and table settings will be provided by Oak Wood. Tickets are being sold in the back by Carol McKechnie and Pat Ozimek. Christmas Party:
Christie King indicated we only have three months to sell tickets for the
Christmas Party, which will be held on Friday, December 3rd at the
Savannah Center. The price will be the same as last year ($27.50), which
includes a carving station and very good music. There will be round tables that
seat eight so if you want to set up your own table of those you wish to sit
with, come prepared at the September meeting to sign up. This is the one time of year that we dress up.
Additional Trips: Fred
solicited members to come forward to lead a trip as we are short with nothing
scheduled until the fall. There are
many opportunities available. Guest Speaker:
Our scheduled our guest speakers from Sunset Isle RV Resort & Marina
in Carabelle, FL were apparently dealing with the Gulf oil spill and unable to
be here. Therefore, in the absence
of guest speakers, Len conducted an FYI session where members shared knowledge
on the various types of RV’s from Class A’s to pop-up campers, as well as
tow cars. Len also shared
information he received regarding a total electric (lithium battery) towable
weighing 1750 lbs, is pre-wired, has a tow bar, comes in two models of a 60 or
100 mile range. Pictures and
information can be found at www.ecosmotors.com.
Len stressed that the RV Club does not promote this vehicle and is making
the information known for information only. Sunshine: Carol McKechnie sent 3 get well cards last month to Carmen Smith, Bill Procop, and Jane Marie Dorsey. New
Members/Guests: 1 new
member was introduced and received free koozies. Interim
Announcement: Len shared
information he received from Maxine Bryant regarding the organization called
Cleaning for a Reason. This group
will provide cleaning services once a month for four months while a woman is
undergoing chemo treatment. All
they need is a fax from the doctor. 50/50 Drawing:
Three monetary prizes were awarded; 2 for $30 and 1 for $25 Next Meeting:
Our next meeting will be on September 10, 2010. Motion to

been sold. With no open discussion
or questions, the meeting adjourned at 10:45 A.M. Respectfully submitted, Barb Hatch
THE VILLAGES RV CLUB MEETING DATE: May 14, 2010 President Mark Hulbert called the meeting to order at 10:00 A.M. with a moment of silence and prayer for those in harm’s way protecting our freedoms and the Pledge of Allegiance. Abbreviated minutes for the April 9 meeting were read and approved. Teasurer’s Report: The financial report was presented by Walt McKechnie and approved as follows: Beginning Balance $3,680.94 Income 687.00 Expenditures 586.72 Ending Balance $3,781.22 Wagon Master’s Report: Wagon Master, Fred Bryant recognized the great job done by Mark & Becky Hulbert on their trip to Biltmore Estates in NC, to Terry & Carol Powell on their trip to Savannah, GA, Doug & Karen Parks on their Wekiva Falls trip, and Frank Boissey & Peg & Jerry Seaman for the Lazy Days rally. Fred reminded members that he still has two scooters available for loan to anyone who may have difficulty walking or getting around. Fred is also looking for a missing white club banner. Fred then stated that there are a couple of fairly local campgrounds that would love to have us come for a rally, namely, Blueberry Hill which is about 30 miles away and Crystal River. So, if anyone wants to run a short trip during the summer, there are opportunities available just let Fred know. Joyce Armstrong Tournament: Al Rhoton, the chair person for the Joyce Armstrong Tournament, stated we are playing on Churchill, not Belmont, and Pimlico on Sunday, May 16th. The first tee times will begin at 1:00 P.M. We now have room for four (4) more people due to cancelations. Al requested members to be sure to bring their own chairs and plenty to drink. Al then solicited a volunteer to chair this event for next year – no one came forward. Wagon Masters then came forward to present the status for upcoming trips as follows: W. Virginia, Everglades City (now accepting Class C’s & 5th wheels), Albuquerque Balloon Festival, Lion Country, and Hillsborough River State Park. Christie King, chair person, stated our Christmas Party this year will be at the Savannah Center. Karen Weber will be co-chair person. The menu will be the same as last year. Tickets will go on sale in September. If you want to sit with anyone in particular, tables will be set up for eight (8). Fred reminded club members that there are some opportunities to set up trips during the summer – we’re empty. President Mark suggested thinking during the summer about trips that could be set up in the fall. Guest Speaker: Our guest speaker today was Lt. Gina Lambert from The Villages Public Safety Department. Lt. Lambert spoke on how CPR originated and how it has changed over the years. Chest compression is the current method which requires 100 beats per minute. If you compress to the tune of “Stayin’ Alive”, you’d be meeting that requirement. She spent some time talking about AED’s and their use in The Villages. The national “save rate” is 6%. However, in The Villages that rate is 41%, which is attributed to use of the AED’s and proximity of emergency response units. She encouraged use of the AED’s located at all recreation centers and pools as they are “idiot proof”. She also encouraged residents to direct someone to call 911. Gina indicated that classes are taught once a month by the Public Safety Department at Station 51 (Phone: 205-8280). The cost is $20. Gina also touched on recognizing stroke victims, how to know the signs, and encouraging immediate attention. It is critical to receive medical attention within three (3) hours of stroke symptoms. A document is available on health and safety issues, including hurricane preparedness and can be accessed by going to www.districtgov.org on the web. Sunshine: Carol McKechnie sent 3 get well cards last month to Len Holdsworth, Carmen Smith, and Paul Everett. New Members/Guests: 7 new members were introduced and received free koozies. Interim Announcement: Al Sandy identified the nominating committee consisting of Al Rhoton, Carol Kugelman, and Jo Spinks. They will be working during the summer to identify candidates and very encouraged by the response they’ve received so far. Al indicated we may even have an election this year. Anyone interested in the offices of president, vice-president, treasurer, or wagon master should contact one of the members of the committee. 50/50 Drawing: Three monetary prizes were awarded; 2 for $50 and 1 for $25 Next Meeting: Our next meeting will be on June 11. Motion to adjourn at: In closing, Mark reminded everyone to be sure to check their email and the web site during the summer. With no open discussion or questions, the meeting adjourned at 11:05 A.M. Wagon Master’s Report: Several new trips have been added to the schedule since our last meeting. March 12 Meeting: The March meeting will feature an “RV Accessory Sale”. Members who have RV related items no longer needed will have an opportunity to sell those items at the March meeting. A table will be set up for small items. For larger items, bring a description and/or pictures to display or leave them in the parking lot. THE VILLAGES RV CLUB MEETING DATE:_January 8, 2010_ Introduction of Board Members: President Mark Hulbert Vice-president Len Holdsworth (absent) Treasurer Walt McKechnie Secretary Barb Hatch Wagon Master Fred Bryant Membership Christie King The meeting was called to order at 10:05 A.M. by President Mark Hulbert followed by a moment of silence and prayer for those in harm’s way protecting our freedoms and the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary’s Report: Abbreviated minutes of December 11, 2009 were approved as read. Complete minutes are posted on TVRVC.org Membership Dues: Mark reminded members that $5 dues are payable through January 31st; we may extend that deadline. For those who have not renewed, see Christie King. Treasurer’s Report: Walt McKechnie presented the 2009 annual report and the report for the month of December, 2009, which were approved. December 2009 Beginning Balance $8,034.18 $ 3,543.01 Income 512.00 10,543.33 Expenditures 5,865.03 11,302.19 Ending Balance $2,679.15 $ 2,784.15 Mark indicated that we have managed to move our available balance down by approximately $1,000 since last year and that we are looking at what an acceptable balance should be and how we can pass along a benefit to membership as we continue to draw down the balance. Audit: One of the requirements of the club is that we audit our books. Irwin King and SanDee McAloney have volunteered to conduct that audit. We will see the results of that audit next month. 2010 Annual Plan: The Board of Directors met in December, 2009 and set forth a plan for 2010, which is posted on the web site. One event to keep in mind is the March 12th meeting, which will allow members to sell RV related items to fellow members. For large items, bring a description and pictures to display or leave in the parking lot. Wagon Master’s Report: Fred Bryant began by stating we needed wagon masters. We currently only have 5 trips on the schedule, and that’s not very many. The same people are doing the trips over and over again, and we’re not seeing any new faces stepping up to the plate. He called on the “old timers” to come out and lead a rally. Without wagon masters we are going to be a business meeting club. A lot of help is available to plan a trip. It’s not necessary to go far as there’s a lot of places we can go right around here. Fred thanked each wagon master who held a rally. Both New Year’s rallies at Crystal River and Lazy Days were a huge success. Chuck & Judy Bertsch were recognized for being wagon masters for 9 trips. Their co-wagon masters on the Crystal River trip, Bill & Ruth Day, received Wagon Master dangles. Thanks also went out to Ron & Nancy Martin and Jim & Pat Osborn who have led numerous rallies and were wagon masters for the Lazy Days trip. Fred also had information on a senior golf tournament in Naples from January 12-15 if anyone was interested in attending. Wagon masters reviewed the status for upcoming trips to the Strawberry Festival , Flamingo Lake in Jacksonville, Savannah, & West Virginia. One of the things we’ve been seeing is a high number of cancellations after signing up for a trip. It’s creating a lot of workload for the wagon masters. We encourage you to seriously consider this commitment when signing up. When planning a trip, keep in mind an opportunity for a “special interest” group and plan a trip with people who share the same interest, eg. Nascar, Civil War, fishing, etc. Board Planning Meeting: As noted on the annual schedule posted on the web site, we will be having a breakfast meeting in April. Judy Bertsch, Millie Sloan, & Butch Ballot volunteered to coordinate. Miscellaneous: The industrial areas of Rolling Acres and Alhambra are now under the auspices of the CDD Customer Service at 3201 Wedgewood Lane. They are managing and updating the lists. Some vehicles that haven’t been moved in a very long time have disappeared. There is still a waiting list so if you wish to get on the list, you’ll need to complete a contract. Refrigerator magnets are available on the merchandise table. On security, they have installed a new gate system at the Rolling Acres location. Unfortunately, they did not adjust the delay correctly and the gate caught the side of Chuck Bertsch’s 5th wheel. They have adjusted them now. It takes about 10 seconds to open and close. Be sure to wait the 10 seconds to make sure no one tailgates behind you. Fred Bryant has two scooters given by Linda Jawarski that are available for loan to members as required whether on an interim basis or for use at a campground where you’d have to do a lot of walking. Sunshine Report: Carol McKechnie sent cards to: Linda Jawarski – Donation to diabetes association in memory of Gene Jawarski Carole Kugelman – get well – pneumonia Donation to Hospice House in memory of Larry Jones who passed on 12/24/09 Guest Speaker: Kelli Walker, business development manager for the RV Zone in Ocala, formerly Turning Wheel, gave a presentation on their “Preferred Member Club”. The Preferred Member Club offers many services free of cost such as AAA membership, a dedicated service representative, 24/7 emergency service, appliance cleaning, mobile service and more. Brochures were available for those interested. They can be reached at 352-368-6645. New Members/Guests: 4 new members were introduced and welcomed with free koozies. 50/50 Drawing: 4 monetary prizes were awarded; 3 for $30 and 1 for $20 Next Meeting: February 12 Motion to adjourn at: 10:50 A.M. Respectfully submitted, Barb Hatch
