Villages RV Club Minutes, December 12, 2003 The meeting was called to order at 10:04 a.m. by President Linda Sturgess.100 plus members and guests were in attendance. Linda thanked all of her committee members for all of their help during her tenure as President of the club. A surprise visit by Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause interrupted our meeting which was followed by the singing of Carols. When Santa left to go back to the North Pole, the meeting was resumed. The Secretarys report was read and accepted after a correction of our bank balance. The correct balance for last month is $xxxx.xx. The treasurers report showed a balance of $xxxx.xx before final expenses. Fifteen new members and guests introduced themselves to the club. It was noted the Holiday Party was a resounding success. Dana Bishop, wagon master of the New Years Rally gave out final information NEW BUSINESS: Chuck Bertsch, our new club Wagon master for 2004 had his up and coming Wagon masters present their itineries. He will need volunteers to man our booth promoting the club. 50/50 drawing was held. There were 4 winners. Pat Humphrey indicated that there are a few seats available for the December 4th Holiday Party. Call 753-8853 Joe Humphrey reported that the Key West trip just completed was a real eye opener. The Mark ll dinner theater rally for December 10th is sold out. There will be 27 couples attending. The New Years rally to Sun N Fun in Sarasota with 30 rigs going is also sold out. The January rally to Lazy Days Tampa January 12-15 has 42 confirmed attending. Contact Irwin King (750-6021) for further information. The clubs 2nd annual picnic at Lake Geneva, Fruitland Park will be held on February 1, 2004. Activities include a swap meet, athletic events and a chicken dinner. NEW BUSINESS: Joan Bucell (259-0592) made the first announcement for a rally to BRANSON, MO. It is scheduled to leave on April 16 and return on the 23rd. More information will be on our website. Our speaker Dave Hayhurst from American Pro Service Center gave a short presentation outlining his newly formed RV Service facility. He is located on HWY 441 north of HWY 42. OLD BUSINESS Club clothing sales are handled by Tom and Nancy Schmelzer (750-6189). Club badges are sold by Joe Humphrey (753-8853). The club Christmas Party is presently sold out. John Koplish will run the 50/50 program when the new officers take office. Nancy Eisenhauer is our club historian (259-9574). The $5.00 dues per rig for 2004 will be collected starting at the November meeting. Checks should be made out to The Villages RV Club. Note any changes in your address or email information. Bob Lococo made last minute announcements on the Key West Trip. He advised all that the club uses channel 13 on the CB when traveling. The November 10-14 trip to Sanibel Island will be handled by Jim Osborne. (259-8681 )No Pets allowed. Chet Sturgess is handling the December 10 Mark II Dinner Theater Trip, staying at the Comfort Inn. No RVs. Checks for $117.50 should be made out the Chet and will be collected at the November meeting. (Butch, Need correction on Mark II. Checks have to made out to me, Chet Sturgess, by Nov. 1st, not by the Nov. meeting. Also, due tocancellations, I now have 2 openings that can be filled if anyone wantsto join us. February 1, 2004 will be the annual club picnic at Camp Geneva, Fruitland Park. Details to follow. February 26-29 will be a rally to Mims, Fl. Ann and Roy Hudson will be the wagon masters. NEW BUSINESS A nominating committee for the purpose of establishing a slate of officers for the 2004 year are, Al Sandy, Ben Corriveau, Jim Osborne and Sandy Ballot. The speaker for today's meeting was Terry Garrison, President of Covenant Coach at (352-314-2511). They are a new complete RV Service Center located at 3701 West Main Street (RT44) Leesburg. He gave a very informative talk on his operation. It was noted that a class action settlement concerning Fleetwood Products and their towing abilities is available at www.brakeclaims.com .
